genoem) is nie.
The present status quo -
there are no legally binding medical tariffs!
The chaos
On 28th July 2010 Acting Judge Piet Ebersohn declared in the Supreme
Court of SA the RPL (National Health Reference Price List) 2007 – 2009
null and void.
He found the process by which the RPL and rates were determined to be
“unfair, unlawful, unreasonable and irrational.”
The Judge also said that the process resulted in tariffs that were
“unreasonably low“ and one of the reasons cited for the exodus of
doctors from South Africa.
Thereby it was ruled that there is no longer a standardised medical
scheme tariff guideline (previously called the National Health
Reference Price List).
The National Health Reference Price List is published by the Board of
Healthcare Funders of SA (the representative organisation for the majority
of medical schemes throughout Southern Africa).
How we help you
Notwithstanding the above chaos resulting in the situation where there is
no RPL, this practice has decided to adhere as close as possible to the
average rates of medical schemes in an effort to maximise benefits to
the patient. We will also where possible claim on your behalf.
